An E.I. Psalm
by Linda Jacquay
October 1990
Fire ants & mosquitos bite me even though I wear 8 blankets & the floor is so cold I have joint pain & it's not allergies.
My hammock is safe & there's no one to hang it. My dishes need done & there's no one to bring me hot water.
My laundry needs done & there's no money to pay for it.
I'm out of syringes & my friends say I'm in a daze.
Truly my enemies are without number, Lord.
I do often wonder if you would meet my needs better if my prayer life was more disciplined.
I wonder, where is someone who cares?
And how I miss Ron & Annie.
Deal well with me for your name's sake; out of the goodness of Your love, deliver me
For I am poor and needy
And my heart is wounded within me.
